A wiki is a website that allows people from all over the world to collaborate. Throughout the year I will have you complete individual projects as well as group projects using either our class wiki or your own wiki. If things go according to plan we might even be able to collaborate with students in other states or countries on some projects! One of the many cool things about wikis is that they are very versatile. It is important to note that only one person can edit the wiki at a time. If two or more people are editing the same page simultaneously; the one clicks "Save" first will wipe out any edits that the other person or people made. The best solution will be to type your information first using Word then copy and paste the information into the wiki. Think of the wiki like a refrigerator. Only keep the editing page open until you make the necessary edits then close it. If you are filling out a table be mindful of how long you are in editing mode. There is nothing more frustrating that adding your information just to find out someone else was editing at the same time and wiped out your work. Also make sure you save the document using the "Save" button on the floating toolbar. I prefer using the top toolbar because the bottom bar has the "Save Draft." The "Save Draft" button is DANGEROUS! Do not click it---EVER. It could potentially cause you to lose all of your work. If you ever get a message that asks about loading a previous draft, then load it!
